WILLIAMS-KENNEDY CEMETERY

From the Laurens Court House go north on the Spartanburg highway 4 1/2 miles.  Take a wagon road to the left, behind a small group of houses.  The cemetery is about 1/2 mile from the highway in a patch of woods.

Charles W. Fleming, son of Samuel and Harriet J. Fleming, died May 27, 1855 - Sept. 27, 1857

John F. Williams, Dec. 1, 1814 - Oct. 15, 1826

Charles Williams, Sept. 1, 1788 - Sept 6, 1860

David Williams, April 1, 1806 - Feb. 14, 1876

Jane Williams, May 8, 1794 - Sept. 9, 1854

S.T.H. Williams, Aug. 11, 1828 - Oct. 19, 1862

There are no stones with Kennedy readable on them.  However Casper Meador Kennedy, William Lafayette Kennedy, Emma M. Kennedy, (children of Nathaniel O'Brian Kennedy, and grandchildren of Rodger Kennedy), are buried here.  Rodger Kennedy born in Ireland 1784 and died in Laurens *Feb. 9, 1831 may be buried here.

This cemetery was transcribed by Margaret "Peggy" Eltinge Bolt, and her daughter, Margretta Bolt Wright in 1945, with cousins, Frances and Zaletha Kennedy, and published in the book, "Epitaphs of Old Cemeteries: Family Burying Grounds Laurens County S.C."


*An old Kennedy family book, "Eight Letters on Open Communion" (pub. Boston: 1805) contains a handwritten death date for Rody Kennedy of November 30, 1830.
