From The Diary of Joseph E. Bolt
Sunday, December 7, 1941

After eating breakfast rather late and reading newspapers and doing odd jobs, we suddenly had our morning alarmed by one of our neighbors - Mrs. Hennigan called and stated that the radio was announcing a Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and Honolulu.  We tuned in on H.V. Kaltenborn who seemed to be giving the first news.  Ens. H.R. Clark and I went to Mare Island Navy Yard to see if our services were needed.  We kept tuned in all day and good part of the night to get latest news - all bad.
