The son of Thomas Parker and Frankey ------, Carter Parker was born about 1803 in Laurens County, South Carolina.
Carter and his brother, John, married daughters of their neighbors, John Hastings Dial and Chrystie Thomason.  Carter
married Charity Dial and John married Mahalia Dial. 

As land in the Carolinas was pretty well settled by the time Carter and John married the Dial sisters, land in the west
was opening up to homesteaders.  Carter and Charity settled in Coosa County, Alabama.
