On October 15, 1866, Abraham and Mary deeded 4 3/4 acres of land to the Trustees of Salem Church, a newly formed Methodist church.  The deed gave the right of way 12 feet wide to a spring which was about 700 ft. from the church.  The deed was witnessed by Dr. Anthony Cook Fuller and Samuel Bolt.  In 1873, members from Salem Church and another small M.E. church, Pleasant Grove, were combined to form Trinity Methodist Church.
